The RapID Platform Developer Solution is a complete, customizable Profinet Class B communication interface

The RapID™ Platform uses the Innovasic fido1100® Communication  Controller – a single chip that also supports both Profinet and EtherNet/IP with no changes to the hardware design,  so a single circuit board design enables your product for both Industrial Ethernet protocols.

 

Customize the hardware, software, or bothrp_development_flow

The RapID Platform Developer Solution is downloaded from Innovasic’s website and contains the latest version of the hardware and software design packages in order to customize a Profinet Class B solution.  The hardware design package contains the schematics, bill of materials, and layouts required to build a module. In fact, the design package is so complete that it is possible to manufacture the module directly from the information provided.  The hardware design is extremely robust and includes Ethernet protection circuitry, an RJ45 connector with integrated magnetics, and bicolor LEDs.  The 4 MB Flash and 8 MB SDRAM provides ample space for custom applications.  A separate 8K x 8 NVM is provided to store network configuration information so program memory can remain secure.

The software design package contains all of the fido1100 communication controller software libraries, protocol stack, and the Integrated Development Environment (IDE) to develop custom applications.  All of the fido1100 software and IDE are free of charge, and the protocol stacks are licensed for a one-time fee. These stacks can be licensed as either object code or source code.  Either way, all software is royalty-free.  There is an example application provided that has been certified to Profinet Class B, so custom applications built using this example are assured of passing certification testing.  The example GSDML file ensures the final GSDML file also passes conformance, and the inclusion of PriorityChannel ensures the final device passes network load testing.

    RapID Developer Solution Kit

    The RapID Developer Solution Kit comes with everything necessary to develop a Profinet Class B compatible product. The developer-solution-pickit contains a baseboard, a 2-port Ethernet module, a personality module, and the cables required to connect to power, the debug environment, and a Profinet network. The baseboard provides all of the breakouts necessary to monitor signals or connect external circuitry. The 2-port Ethernet module provides breakouts for the personality module so a host processor can be connected via a 16‑bit parallel interface. Custom personality modules can be made for other host processor or stand-alone application interfaces. The complete communication path between a Profinet controller and a host processor or a stand-alone application can be completely verified before integrating the design into the actual automation device hardware.
